OLED TV: LG’s 2021 4K OLED TV just jumped to $649, it’s unbelievable

News good plan OLED TV: LG’s 2021 4K OLED TV just jumped to $649, it’s unbelievable

In the small world of 4K TVs, there is a particularly prestigious and sought-after technology, which is almost systematically found on high-end models: OLED. The Korean brand LG is the queen of OLED. While inflation is pretty high for the entire industry, Rue du Commerce just sold the LG 48 A1 for just €649! Be quick before supplies run out!

LG 48 A1: we’ve never seen an LG OLED TV at such a low price

The period we are going through is quite special. As all prices explode, mainly due to the cost of raw materials and global geopolitical tensions, some prestigious televisions are being sold.

Why ? This is the magic of destocking. LG is rolling out its 2022 range, so several online retailers need to make room and sell last year’s models.

As a result, we end up in madness. The LG 48 A1 sold for almost €1000 not too long ago, here it is for just €649. Even on Black Friday, we had never seen this before.

We advise you to be quick, the supplies probably won’t last long. Given the current trend, we probably won’t see OLED of this quality at such a low price in a few years.

Other models, such as the much-adored 55-inch C1 are also being heavily promoted on Rue du Commerce as part of this great destocking process. Feel free to click below to browse the site!

LG 48 A1 features: an entry-level OLED TV

Let’s start by remembering the basics. OLED, what is it?

This technology, which is very technical and expensive to manufacture once the panels get a bit large, was only produced by a single company until this year: LG Displays (all other brands of TVs were supplied by LG).

The principle is quite simple to explain: the pixels of OLED screens produce their own light, they are said to be “self-emissive”. OLED screens therefore do not need a backlight panel. Result: black pixels fall out of pixels and the contrast level is literally infinite.

Trust us, in use it is very noticeable. The colors are extremely accurate.

Since OLED is a complicated and expensive technology, most manufacturers have reserved it for very high-end TVs that are packed with a host of other state-of-the-art features. LG, king of OLED, tried to remove as many superfluous things as possible to offer more accessible OLED, so the A1 was born.

At this price, there is of course no 120 Hz panel. One should be satisfied with a frequency of 60 Hz† In addition to a frequency of 60 Hz, it makes no sense to have an HDMI 2.1 port. The LG 55A1 has 3 HDMI 2.0 ports.

So it will be possible to fully enjoy the vast majority of your games, even on the next generation (Xbox Series and PS5). Why ? Because the A1 is doing very well, 4K at 60 FPS and so rare are the titles that can go further. Even in a few years, we can hardly imagine that 4K 120 FPS will become the norm on this generation of consoles.

Aside from this minor concession, the A1 has everything from a very high-end TV that sells twice as much.

  • The Magic Remote Control“Wii controller” remote is still impressive
  • LG’s WebOS interface still as elegant and ergonomic
  • AIthe upscaling of FHD images in 4K and the anti-marking technologies still work just as well…
  • Compatibility Dolby Vision/Atmos and Film Maker Mode available for cinema
  • The applications that can be found at the touch of the remote control are complete (Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+, OCS, Molotov, YouTube, Twitch, Spotify, etc.).

In short, this smartTV from 48 inches (122 cm diagonal) plays in the major leagues.

The A1 is very similar to the much adored LG C1. It just sells much cheaper. Most experts agree on one point: it is an excellent entry into the higher segment.

If you can’t afford to put a 4-figure sum into a new TV, but OLED fascinates you as much as we do, then this is a really good deal.
