The biggest names from the French and international classical scene will meet from July 18 to August 20 to delight the public for four weeks. An edition in 2022 that will also pay tribute to three recently deceased pianists who marked the history of the festival: Nelson Freire, Radu Lupu and Nicholas Angelich.
To start this 42nd edition in beauty and elegance, the virtuoso Abdel Rahman el Bacha, French pianist of Lebanese descent, will perform three piano concertos by Maurice Ravels in the company of the Orchester Philharmonique de Marseille and under the direction of the Swiss conductor Kaspar Zehnderdu. repertoire.

Trios, quartets, Jazz with eight hands, in this lavish program we find the roots of classical, modern or popular jazz with as highlights a tribute to Bill Evans, Yaron Herman Trio or Abdullah Ibrahim, one of the most famous musicians from South Africa. In total, there are almost ten concerts not to be missed, both in the morning and in the evening.

The International Piano Festival of La Roque d’Anthéron is the meeting place for classical music. The greatest artists from all over the world meet there every year, to the delight of specialists and amateurs alike.
Mozart, Chopin, Liszt, Schubert, Rachmaninoff, Bach… an abundance of concerts, recitals and symphonies, performed in many emblematic places of the region by internationally renowned artists, await a large audience this year.
Ten pianists, a trio, a cellist and a violinist, all renowned artists, the festival organizers had a blast celebrating the 80th birthday of the Dean of the French Piano School.
Pianist, recitalist, composer, conductor and performer of classical masters, Jean-Claude Pennetier, one of the greatest pianists of today, has devoted his life to his art.
Mozart, Schubert, Beethoven, Haydn… without forgetting Debussy or Fauré, whose complete works for piano solo he engraved, which was also awarded a Diapason d’or.

The French violinist, one of the most brilliant of his generation, concludes this 2022 edition. He will conduct and perform the Concerto for Piano, Violin and Strings in D minor and the Symphony n°3 in A minor opus 56 “Ecossaise”. two great works by Felix Mendelssohn.
He will be accompanied by Jorge Gonzalez Buajasan on piano and the Lausanne Chamber Orchestra.

In order to promote the young generation of artists and identify the talents of tomorrow, the festival has been hosting young musicians in residence every year since 1982, benefiting from “Master Classes”.
Since 4 years, the organizers have also welcomed high school students from all over the region for a three-day educational stay: meeting with artistic director René Martin, introductory sessions on the history of music and discovering behind the scenes of the event, an opportunity to share their knowledge of the musical world and why not, to generate vocations.
